My Background and Language Learning Journey
From Chinese-speaking communities to Vietnamese: sharing my practical experience in education, technology, and cross-cultural collaboration
Years of Experience in Chinese-Speaking Communities
I started learning Chinese many years ago, and later spent time living in Taiwan, as well as participating in various business collaborations in China and Chinese-speaking markets. This experience enabled me to communicate fluently in Chinese and gave me a deeper understanding of the nuanced differences in Chinese culture and language, forming the foundation for my subsequent education and cross-cultural projects.
Dedicated to Education, Technology, and Cross-Border Collaboration
My career has focused primarily on education, education technology (EdTech), study abroad, and international assessment. Over the years, I have promoted cross-border education, online learning platforms, and assessment tools across multiple locations in Asia. I have also been fortunate to participate in educational exchanges and collaborations between the UK and Vietnam, which has given me a deeper understanding of the connections and needs between the two countries in education.
Connection with Vietnam and Language Inspiration
As my business expanded to Vietnam, I began traveling there frequently and gradually became involved in the Vietnamese education market. During this process, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the large number of Sino-Vietnamese words in Vietnamese that share common origins with Chinese. This linguistic familiarity fascinated me deeply. Vietnamese thus became a language I grew to love more and more, naturally combining with my daily needs for cross-cultural work.
The Purpose Behind Building This Website
Drawing on years of experience in education and technology, I hope to use tool-based, data-driven, and technology-powered approaches to create a truly practical, intuitive, and effective Vietnamese learning platform for English speakers. I understand the pain points that English speakers face when learning Vietnamese, and I am familiar with Vietnamese phonetics and vocabulary systems. Through this website, I aim to integrate the best resources so that more people can master Vietnamese in a more accessible way.
